Maserati GranTurismo

Maserati GranTurismo - Gran Turismo car class of the Italian sports car manufacturer Maserati. The public was presented in March 2007 at the Geneva Motor Show.
V8 Ferrari engine of 4.2 liters develops 298 kW (405 hp). The mass / power off GranTurismo is 4.6 kg / hp. The car is equipped with a 6-speed automatic transmission ZF. The long wheelbase and short overhangs provide a roomy enough interior space for four people.
Platform GranTurismo has been borrowed from the Quattroporte with a few changes. In particular, reduced by 125 mm wheelbase was slightly shorter rear overhang, and the two-door body has a 30% stiffer. The power unit was shifted back so that the weight distribution has turned out almost perfect - 49:51.
Coupe accelerates very smoothly. Against possible slippage saves limited-slip differential: when overclocking it is blocked by 25%, and with engine braking - by 45%, which prevents early failure in the bank when you reset the gas in a turn.
Since summer 2008 Maserati also produces S-version of the GranTurismo. Convertible version is scheduled for release in 2009.
